Clinical Psychologist

About Alasdair

"I am a Clinical Psychologist who is interested in offering a compassionate space to support people to make sense of what is driving their distress, and what they and others in their system can do to help. My clinical work has covered a wide range of issues, from anxiety to depression to trauma. This has taught me skills to help people understand the potentially complex roots of their difficulties, but also the practical steps they can take in the here-and-now to lead more fulfilled lives.

My main therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), as well as drawing upon systemic ideas. I also work on a clinical psychology training course, as part of which I have developed training packages for CBT therapists and carry out research. My interests in CBT particularly focus on strengths-based approaches, understanding people in their context, and addressing difficult experiences that people from minority ethnic communities can experience, such as microaggressions."
